Gertruds Postcards

This article “The Life of my Grandmother”,  was posted in the Munich Merkur in 2015 to promote the  Gertrudspostkarten website and to search for information to find Gregor Bauer. Gregor worked for Gertrud’s father, Wilhelm Häfner.  He assisted with the setup and operatation of Wilhelm’s Zip-Line amusement ride.  He courted Gertrud with many poetic postcards.

This article “New Yorker Seeks his roots in Jelenia Gora”, appeared in the Sächsische Zeitung in 2012. It is about my then 15 year search for information of my family history to support the website Gertrudspostkarten.  The town Jelenia Gora is the name of the town now part of Poland before the end of World War II it was Hirschberg as part of Germany.
